Neapolitan Milkshake

Neapolitan Milkshake

Three classic flavors in one eye-catching milkshake.

In his book, Milkshake Monday, based on his popular TikTok series of the same name, Larry Canam shares how to enjoy three classic Neapolitan ice cream flavors in one layered milkshake. “It does take a bit of work … but it’s totally worth it. Just look at those layers!” he writes. “You can enjoy each flavor separately, or mix them together with our straw. This is a good recipe to double the quantities and make two shakes at once.”

Ingredients

  • Strawberry Milkshake
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream (about 2/3 cup)
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/3 cup strawberry milk
  • ______________________________
  • Chocolate Milkshake
  • 2 scoops chocolate ice cream (about 2/3 cup)
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1/3 cup chocolate milk
  • ______________________________
  • Vanilla Milkshake
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream (about 2/3 cup)
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • Tools:blender
  • Glass:12-oz. milkshake
  • Garnish:whipped cream

Preparation

Place a 12-ounce glass in the freezer for 10 minutes to chill. Prepare the strawberry portion of the milkshake. Add all the strawberry milkshake ingredients to the blender, and blend on high until smooth.

Carefully remove the chilled glass from the freezer. Pour the blended ingredients into the chilled glass, and return the glass to the freezer.

Rinse out the blender. Prepare the chocolate portion of the milkshake. Add all the chocolate milkshake ingredients to the blender, and blend on high until smooth.

Carefully remove the chilled glass from the freezer. Slowly pour the blended ingredients into the chilled glass over the top of the strawberry milkshake.

Rinse out the blender again. Prepare the vanilla portion of the milkshake. Add all the vanilla milkshake ingredients to the blender, and blend on high until smooth.

Carefully remove the chilled glass from the freezer. Slowly pour the blended ingredients into the chilled glass over the top of the chocolate milkshake.

Add a generous amount of whipped cream on top of the milkshake.

NoteBecause this milkshake is layered, it helps to pour each flavor of milkshake over the back of a spoon so it doesn’t incorporate with the other flavor(s) already in the glass.
