Missionary’s (Repo)sition

This delicious recipe proves how versatile wine can be as a cocktail ingredient.

2 oz. reposado tequila
1 oz. Rioja-pear syrup (see below)
1/2 oz. velvet falernum
1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: cocktail
Garnish: pear slices

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Strain into a chilled glass and garnish.

Rioja-Pear Syrup: Cut 1 pear into slices and combine that in a pot with 1 bottle of Rioja Cosecha, 2 cups of white sugar and 2 orange peels. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Strain to remove the pear and orange peels. Let cool, transfer to a glass bottle and keep refrigerated.
