The smoky spice of tequila and mezcal have a special affinity for pineapple; in this drink, the richness and smoke are further accented by the ginger and clove flavors of falernum.
1¾ oz. reposado tequila
⅓ oz. mezcal
1 oz. fresh lime juice
¾ oz. pineapple syrup
1 tsp. falernum, for rinse
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: cocktail
Garnish: thin slice of lime peel
Combine all ingredients except falernum in a shaker and fill with ice. Shake to chill, then strain into chilled cocktail glass that’s been rinsed with falernum. Garnish.
