Lambrusco Punch

lambrusco punch

A sparkling punch that’s perfect for balmy summer afternoons.

In Sparkling: Champagne and Sparkling Cocktails for Any Occasion, author Elva Ramirez showcases sparkling wine in a variety of classic and original cocktails. For summer parties, she put together this Lambrusco punch, using strawberry and grenadine to enhance the fruitiness of the wine and round out its tannic edges. “Lipstick red, with a fulsome berry-and-mint aroma, this punch is reminiscent of balmy summer afternoons,” she writes.

Ingredients

Yield:20-25
  • 17 oz. gin
  • 12 1/2 oz. chilled sparkling water
  • 8 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 8 oz. grenadine
  • 30 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 (750ml) bottle chilled Lambrusco
  • 2 cups sliced strawberries
  • handful of fresh mint, plus sprigs for garnish
  • Tools:punch bowl, ladle
  • Glass:small rocks or punch

In a punch bowl or other large container filled with large ice cubes, combine the gin, sparkling water, lemon juice, grenadine, and bitters. Stir to combine, then add the Lambrusco. Add a handful of the strawberries and mint to the bowl, reserving the remainder for garnish.
