Bittersweet amaro balances the sweetness of cola in this highball from Gracias Madre.

Fernet and cola find a bittersweet balance in this cocktail from bartender Jason Eisner.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Mexican Fernet (or substitute Fernet-Branca)
  • 3 oz. Mexican Coke (or other cane-sweetened cola)
  • 1 tsp. fresh lime juice
  • Tools:shaker
  • Glass:rocks
  • Garnish:lime wedge

Preparation

Combine all the ingredients in a shaker and shake gently with ice to chill (use care to keep the soda from foaming). Pour all the ingredients from the shaker into a glass, top with additional ice and garnish.
