Heart of Stone: A Boulevardier Variation

Heart of Stone mezcal cynar boulevardier riff Lady Jane

A rich and earthy take on a bourbon classic.

Stuart Weaver, general manager and partner of Denver’s Lady Jane, says this Boulevardier variation was the result of a last-minute menu change at the bar, quickly coming together 30 minutes before service began. “I find it so funny that a cocktail I put five minutes of work into turns out to be one of my favorites and a staple here at Lady Jane,” he says.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. bourbon
  • 1/2 oz. mezcal
  • 3/4 oz. Carpano Antica Vermouth
  • 3/4 oz. Cynar 70
  • 6 saline drops (1:10 salt to water)
  • Tools:mixing glass, bar spoon, strainer
  • Glass:double Old Fashioned
  • Garnish:flamed orange peel

Preparation

Add all of the ingredients to mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain over a large ice cube in a glass. Garnish.
