Green Mountain, A Cognac Cocktail

Cognac Cocktail

Chartreuse, lemon and mint harmonize with the darker fruity notes of Cognac in this cocktail from Matthew Williamson, bar manager at Wm. Mulherin’s Sons in Philadelphia.

“Most people think that Cognac should be enjoyed neat, so we wanted to offer a more interesting interpretation of the spirit,” says Williamson.

2 oz. Cognac
¾ oz. yellow chartreuse
¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
½ oz. simple syrup (1:1)
2 sprigs mint
Tools: shaker, strainer, double strainer
Glass: stemmed beer
Garnish: mint sprig

Combine all the ingredients in a shaker and shake with ice to chill. Double strain into a glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish.
