Cio-Notto: Italian Highball

Cio-Notto Highball

Spicy bitterness with a bright bite.

“A highball, though often consisting of only a few ingredients, can be as nuanced as any other drink, when prepared with care and constructed with subtlety in mind,” says Jessica King, co-owner of Brother Wolf Negroni Bar in Knoxville, Tennessee. This Italian highball matches the delicately spiced bitterness of a classic amaro with the bright bite of a chinotto soda (available at specialty shops and from online retailers).

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Amaro CioCiaro
  • 3 oz. Lurisia Chinotto Soda
  • Tools:barspoon
  • Glass:collins
  • Garnish:lemon twist

Preparation

Chill both of the ingredients before serving. Add both to a glass filled with ice cubes, then stir gently to combine. Twist a piece of lemon peel over the drink, then use as a garnish.
