Hibiscus-infused Galliano meets gin and sparkling wine.

“There was overwhelming support from all over in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, and one of the big efforts in the bar community was #HurricaneHarveyWallbanger,” Alex Negranza says of the fundraising efforts many cocktail bars back in 2017 when the hurricane devastated Texas. “Our use of Galliano infused with fresh hibiscus buds was one of our ways to help Houston recover.”

Ingredients

  • 1 1⁄4 oz. gin
  • 1⁄2 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1⁄2 oz. rich simple syrup (2:1)
  • 1⁄4 oz. hibiscus-infused Galliano
  • chilled sparkling wine
  • Tools:shaker, strainer, fine strainer
  • Glass:flute
  • Garnish:mint sprig, blackberry, hibiscus bud (optional), powdered sugar

Preparation

Shake the first 4 ingredients with ice, then double strain into a chilled glass. Top with sparkling wine, then garnish.

Hibiscus-Infused Galliano: In a glass jar, combine 1 oz. of dried hibiscus with 10 oz. of Galliano. Cover the jar and let the mixture infuse for 6 to 8 hours, to taste. Strain out the solids and bottle for use.
