Campfire Story From Root & Flower

Shelly Waters, bartender of Root & Flower in Vail, Colorado, wanted to create a spirit-forward mezcal cocktail evocative of camping up in the mountains. While mezcal conjures up campfires, the pine liqueur and gin are meant to replicate the scent of evergreen trees.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. mezcal
  • 1 oz. Amaro Nonino
  • 1/2 oz. sweet vermouth
  • 1/4 oz. gin
  • 1/4 oz. Zirbenz Stone Pine Liqueur (or Braulio)
  • 2 dashes smoked cinnamon bitters (or Angostura bitters)
  • Tools:mixing glass, barspoon
  • Glass:rocks
  • Garnish:spruce tip or rosemary sprig

Preparation

Add all of the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain over a large ice cube into the glass. Garnish.
