Bon Soirée: A Spicy Margarita

This cocktail from Hailey Knight and Casey Knight (no relation) of Charleston’s Félix Cocktails et Cuisine takes the spicy Margarita for an extra-savory spin. Saline lends a saltiness, while Lillet Blanc rounds out the edges of the fresh lime juice. Meanwhile, Knight recommends using your favorite hot sauce to spice it up. “The key is to use a vinegar-based hot sauce to complement the cocktail’s flavors rather than compete with them,” she says. “I’m partial to Slap Ya Mama hot sauce.”

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz. blanco tequila
  • 3/4 oz. Lillet Blanc
  • 3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 oz. saline solution
  • 2 dashes of hot sauce
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:coupe
  • Garnish:tajín rim

Preparation

Rim a chilled glass with tajin. Combine the ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake to chill, then strain into the prepared glass.
