Drink of the Week: Stone Tangerine IPA

Known for their high-IBU brews, Stone Brewing has done it again with their “Enjoy By” series of IPAs. This new Tangerine IPA is the first fruit-infused brew in the series, with puréed tangerines added to the batch along with a 10-hop lineup including Cascade, Galaxy and Citra. The fruit comes through strongly in the aroma, which takes on floral and eucalyptus notes as it warms. The hop profile offers a piney bitterness that is balanced nicely by the subtle tang of citrus. The bright, juicy characteristics make it ideal for a sunny afternoon, but sip cautiously. Even at 9.4 percent ABV, this one is deceptively drinkable. And if you can’t catch this round before May 30, Stone will be releasing a second batch on June 18 to be enjoyed by July 25.
