Drink of the Week: Sans Wine Co. Carbonic Carignan ’18

Sans Wine CarignanCalifornia-based Sans Wine Co. works exclusively with organically farmed vineyards for their seven-wine lineup, which matches casualness and convenience with a serious winemaking chops. The star of the show? The Carbonic Carignan, which was recently poured at the RAW WINE fairs in New York City and Los Angeles. The wine uses grapes sourced from a Mendocino County vineyard block planted in 1943 and fermented whole-cluster for 25 days in stainless steel tanks then canned sans (*wink, wink*) additives or chemicals, including sulfur. Each can is the approximate equivalent of half a wine bottle, and the Carignan, served with a slight chill, is bright and deliciously juicy with a pleasantly dry finish. $36/3-pack, contact Sans Wine Co. for local distribution or order from sans-wine-co.myshopify.com
