Drink of the Week: Jordan Cuvée

While “Champagne” produced in the United States (or anywhere outside of the Champagne region of France) is technically sparkling wine, Sonoma’s Jordan Winery can rightfully lay claim to the label with their new Jordan Cuvée. Produced by independent Champagne maker AR Lenoble, the Cuvée is the first of this style for Jordan Winery, as well as a first-time collaboration for AR Lenoble, inspired simply by the shared values of the two family-run wineries. Made from a near-equal blend of Grand Cru Chardonnay, Premier Cru Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, the Champagne opens with a delicately sweet aroma, which belies its bright acidity, tart fruit flavors and dry finish. Bottles of this limited collaboration are only available at the Jordan Winery or via online ordering to California residents, but it’s well worth seeking out if your summer travel plans include a trip to Sonoma. $49, jordanwinery.com
