Drink of the Week: H by HINE VSOP

Since 1763, HINE Cognac has followed the traditions of founder Thomas Hine, who traveled from England to France to learn how to make the world’s finest cognacs. HINE is internationally acclaimed for its line of VSOP and XO blends, as well as single-vintage and single-estate cognacs.

The House of HINE sits on the banks of the Charente River in Jarnac, France, in the heart of the Cognac region. For more than 20 years, Cellar Master Eric Forget has been overseeing HINE’s blends with a focus on showcasing the terroir, aromatics, and fruit that are reflective of the region.

Among Cognac’s famed houses, the House of HINE is the only one that distills on the lees; matures in fine grain, lightly toasted barrels; and exclusively produces VSOP and above Cognacs using Ugni Blanc grapes from the most desired Cognac Premier Crus: Petite Champagne and Grande Champagne.

To toast National Cognac Day (June 4), we’re highlighting H by HINE VSOP. This exceptional bottling is a blend of 20 eau-de-vie aged for a minimum of 4 years. With nuanced layers of fruit, flowers, vanilla, and white pepper, it’s a lively spirit that mixes beautifully in cocktails, like this simple and delicious take on a classic highball.
