
This shandy recipe was created by bartender Sofia Present when she worked at the Brooklyn location of August Laura, which has since relocated to New York’s East Village. It features a generous pour of earthy, artichoke-based Cynar. Apple cider, cinnamon and ginger beer round out the autumnal flavors, with lemon juice bringing a snap of brightness to the mix.
1½ oz. Cynar
1 oz. apple cider
½ oz. cinnamon syrup
¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
Ginger beer
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: footed Pilsner
Garnish: apple slices
Combine the Cynar, apple cider, syrup and lemon juice in a shaker with ice. Shake until chilled, then strain into a glass. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a few slices of apple.
