The bartenders at Trick Dog are some of the most creative in the business, so it’s no surprise this recipe has an interesting backstory. “The inspiration for was the movie Casablanca—specifically the bar where they meet Sydney Greenstreet in his fez,” says bartender Morgan Schick. “The idea was to make something that tastes a little dusty, with some North African flavors but still with a European expat style.”
¾ oz. aged rum (Schick uses Don Q Añejo)
¾ oz. Amaro Montenegro
½ oz. falernum
½ oz. aquavit
½ oz. fresh lime juice
Dash of ras al hanout spice mix
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: coupe
Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake to chill, then strain into a chilled glass.
