Brand New Key: A Tarragon Tequila Cocktail

This herbaceous tequila cocktail from Jeremy Bro of Scotch Lodge celebrates the agave spirit’s range of flavors. “Tequila can kind of be put in a box, and written off as one thing, but it has such a wide spectrum of flavors,” Bro says. To complement the tequila’s flavor profile without overwhelming it, he infuses the spirit with tarragon. Cocchi Americano enhances the botanical notes and green Chartreuse adds to the herbaceousness.

If you’re seeking a spirit-forward sipper, you can stop here, mixing the drink like a Martini. But for a more refreshing cocktail well suited to warm days, continue on with lemon juice and honey syrup. Muddled cucumbers round out the citrus and result in a “melon-like character that played off the anisette notes of the tarragon,” Bro adds.
