Imbibe 75 Person to Watch and Puebla-born bartender Victor Lopez celebrates Mexican flavors through his cocktails at New York City’s Mixteca, featuring unique twists on classics. But Lopez’s Puebla York, named after a Queens neighborhood that’s home to the largest community of Poblanos outside of Mexico, marries his native and adopted homes in this Manhattan-inspired mezcal cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 oz. mezcal reposado
  • 3/4 oz. tequila reposado
  • 1/2 oz. Cynar
  • 1/2 oz. crème de cassis
  • 1/2 pipette of chocolate mole bitters
  • Tools:mixing glass, barspoon, strainer
  • Glass:Nick and Nora
  • Garnish:3 brandy cherries on a pick

Preparation

Add all of the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice. Stir to chill and strain into the glass. Garnish.
