Brandy Fix

“Fixes” were popular in the 19th century before they fell into obscurity. This version from Harry Johnson’s Bartender’s Manual is a delicious example of this classic cocktail style.

2 oz. brandy
½ oz. fresh lime juice
½ oz. pineapple syrup
¼ oz. simple syrup
Dash of green Chartreuse
Splash of seltzer
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: highball
Garnish: seasonal fruit

Shake first five ingredients with ice cubes and strain into a glass filled with crushed ice. Add a splash of seltzer water and garnish.
