Here, the fizzy, celebratory classic French 75 is scaled up for a crowd, perfect for toasting anything from weddings and engagements to the holidays, to the arrival of the weekend.
16 oz. (2 cups) gin (preferably a London dry)
8 oz. (1 cup) fresh lemon juice
6 oz. (3/4 cup) simple syrup (1:1)
1/2 tsp. orange bitters
32 oz. (4 cups) dry Champagne or other sparkling dry white wine, chilled
1 large ice block or two smaller blocks
8 orange wheels, for garnish
Tools: punch bowl
Garnish: orange wheels
In a punch bowl, combine the gin, lemon juice, simple syrup,and bitters and stir until thoroughly blended. Just before serving, pour in the Champagne or sparkling wine and stir gently. Add the ice and garnish. To serve, ladle into punch glasses.
