Coffee a Go Go

Want a new kind of brew on the go? Try any of the latest entries to the bottled coffee market.

Come summer, cold-brew coffee is pretty much a must, and these days, you don't even have to pull out your favorite brewer to get a taste of the good stuff. Roasters from coast to coast have been introducing bottled cold-brews that make it easier than ever to get your coffee fix all summer long. Here are six to try.

19 Charles Street
New Yorkers can get a taste of traditional New Orleans-style chicory coffee thanks to 19 Charles’ iced coffee concentrate, packaged in 1-liter apothecary-style bottles and available via delivery service in NYC and shipping across the country. Crafted from a custom coffee/chicory blend from New York’s century-old Porto Rico roasting company, 19 Charles cold-brews the beans for 12 hours before bottling, and since they’re a grocery-delivery service, you can include local milk, organic half and half or soy milk in your order and have everything you need to fix your perfect cold cup of joe delivered direct to your door.

Birch Coffee
Birch’s Brrrch coffee growler is 64 ounces of cold-brewed perfection. Longtime fans of cold coffee, the duo behind Birch experimented with several single-origin beans before settling on a chocolaty blend of Nicaraguan, Guatamalan and Monsooned Malabar beans brewed via Filtron and pre-diluted. Your first growler costs $20, and you can trade your empties for fresh ones for only $15 (that’s less than $2 per 8-ounce cup). For now the growlers are available at their café (attached to the Gershwin Hotel) or via jug subscription service that delivers the ready-to-drink cold brew to homes and offices throughout Manhattan.

Chameleon
Out of Austin, Texas, comes this 100% organic cold-brew that's available locally in select stores and also online in handy 32-ounce three-packs that go for $27.

Grady's
This cold-brew concentrate comes from Brooklyn and gets a hit of chicory in a nod to New Orleans-style coffee. It's available in select shops locally, but you can also purchase it on their website for $45, which includes two bottles and shipping.

Kickstand (pictured above)
The Brooklyn-based coffee cart famous for peddling brews around town now delivers weekly batches of tasty cold brew concentrate right to your doorstep. Rotating single-origin beans from Café Grumpy are brewed via Filtron concentrated and ready for dilution in iced coffee, or kept at full strength for a caffeinated kick to cocktails, syrups, even ice creams.

Stumptown
Stumptown was ahead of the curve with their stylish 10.5-ounce cold-brew stubbies. Made from the roastery's house blend, these bottles of cold-brew goodness are full of rich, chocolaty aromas, tangy fruit flavors and earthy undertones.
