Ahura Mazdā: A Carrot Cocktail

Inspired by his childhood memories of growing up in Iran, Chef Amir Hajimaleki created this cocktail named after the ancient Persian god of wisdom. Carrot is commonly used in traditional Iranian cooking, but in a cocktail it’s flavor is equally versatile. In this recipe mezcal, honey and turmeric prove to be a perfect match for the root veggie.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz. mezcal
  • 1 oz. fresh carrot juice
  • 1/2 oz. honey turmeric syrup
  • 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • Tools:shaker, strainer, fine-mesh strainer
  • Glass:Nick & Nora
  • Garnish:dehydrated lemon

Preparation

Add all of the ingredients to a shaker with ice, shake for 10-15 seconds, then double strain into a glass and garnish.
Honey Turmeric SyrupMix 1/2 tsp. of turmeric into 2 cups of honey syrup.
