Smoke Signals Cocktail

A DIY Douglas Fir liqueur recipe from Essex in Seattle brings flavors of the forest to this mix of bourbon, citrus and smokey tea syrup.

2 oz. bourbon
½ oz. fresh lemon juice
½ oz. fresh orange juice
½ oz. lapsang souchong tea syrup
¼ oz. Douglas Fir liqueur
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: rocks
Garnish: orange peel

Combine all ingredients and shake with ice. Strain into an ice-filled glass and garnish.

Lapsang Souchong Tea Syrup: steep 1 tsp. of lapsang souchong tea in 4 oz. of hot water for 3 minutes. Strain, stir in 4 Tbsp. of sugar and let cool.
