Scenes from the 2017 Charleston Wine + Food

Once again, 2017’s Charleston Wine + Food offered an amazing taste of Charleston’s food and drinks scene. This year’s spirit workshops were heavy on whiskey and bourbon, with events like the popular “Big Daddy Bourbon,” a tasting led by the legendary Preston Van Winkle. Meanwhile, this year’s seminars explored a handful of trending topics in the drinks world. SFA’s Jerry Slater teamed up with James Beard award-winning chef Justin Devillier to put a modern twist on traditional southern cocktails; William Grant & Sons’ Charlotte Voisey shared her knowledge of choosing and using the best ice for your cocktails; and The Spectator’s Allen Lancaster and Bob Peters of The Punch Room joined up to explore coffee cocktails.

The sixth annual Iron Mixologist happened at Bar Mash (home of last year’s winner Teddy Nixon), for an epic bartender battle, where Jamie Bolt of the Gin Joint took top honors among some of Charleston’s top bartenders.
