Kiss of Steel, A Cold-Brew Coffee Drink

A rocking coffee cooler from San Diego’s Kindred.

San Diego cocktail bar Kindred has an affinity for metal music, so it’s no surprise that they named this drink after local band Unbroken. Musician Rob Moran also owns Heartwork Coffee, so Kindred’s tribute to the band naturally features cold-brew. It’s a refreshing pick-me-up that finds a perfect balance of sweet and nutty flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. cold-brew coffee
  • 1 oz. vanilla almond milk
  • ¾ oz. cinnamon bark syrup
  • Tools:shaker, strainer
  • Glass:Collins
  • Garnish:orange wedge

Preparation

Combine the ingredients in a shaker tin with ice. Shake and strain into a Collins glass filled with crushed ice.

Cinnamon Bark Syrup: Grind 2 oz. of cinnamon bark to a fine powder. Add 6 cups of sugar and 6 cups of water and the cinnamon to a pot and bring to a boil. Lower the temperature and simmer for 5 minutes. Cover and let sit overnight. Strain and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
