Hendricks Coffee “Cocktail”

The Hendricks drink at Five Watt Coffee in Minneapolis was inspired by the popular gin brand. The cool herbal pick-me-up features a juniper- and basil-infused syrup, cold-press coffee, grapefruit bitters and cream.

10 oz. cold-press coffee
1 oz. juniper-basil syrup
1 dash grapefruit bitters (Five Watt uses Bitter Truth)
1.5 oz. half and half

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake to chill. Strain into a tall glass over ice.

Juniper-Basil Syrup
2 liters Demerara sugar
2 liters water
1 cup dried juniper berries, ground
1 oz. fresh basil

Combine sugar and water in pot and boil until sugar has dissolved. Add ground juniper berries and fresh basil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 10 minutes. Strain ingredients from liquid before bottling.

Cold-Press Coffee
Combine a 5:1 coffee to water ratio in a large container. Let steep at room temperature for 12-15 hours. Strain grounds from concentrate. Constitute with 2 parts water to 1 part concentrate yielded from the cold-brew to serve.
