Gitane Berry Caipirinha

In this riff on the popular Caipirinha, bartender Dave Nepove adds extra brightness with muddled berries, while a bit of sweet sherry and nutmeg give the drink a hint of warmth.

6-8 mixed berries in season
½ a lime, quartered
1 tsp. sugar
2 oz. cachaça
1 dash sweet sherry
1 dash ground nutmeg
Tools: mixing glass, barspoon
Glass: rocks
Garnish: nutmeg

Muddle the berries, lime quarters and sugar in a shaker tin. Add the cachaça, sherry and ice, and shake for about 30 seconds. Pour into a glass, garnish with a grate of nutmeg and serve.
