Drink of the Week: Allegro Coffee Roasters THAILAND DOI PANGKHON

allegro thai coffeeBack in the 1970s, Thailand began boosting coffee production as a way to help replace opium plantings, and today, those efforts are beginning to pay off with specialty roasters around the world taking notice of the country’s offerings. In the U.S., Allegro Coffee Company has been working with farmers in the hills of Thailand’s Doi Pangkhon area, which sits 1250-1600 meters above sea level. Seventeen farmers make up this micro lot from the northern region of Chiang Mai, and they’ve been growing coffee for nearly 20 years. In the cup, it’s rich and fruity—give it a try and Thai coffee might become your new favorite morning go-to. $15/12 oz.; allegrocoffee.com
