Drink of the Week: Scapegrace Dry Gin

scapegrace ginIn our May/June issue, we highlight gin’s growing global diaspora, and the myriad expressive new gins coming out of the U.S. and beyond. One that’s captured our attention this week for its seamless integration into the classic Negroni (Negroni Week is now!) hails from New Zealand. Available in the U.S. since last fall, Scapegrace Dry Gin comes in two expressions: the original, made with 13 botanicals (including clove, cinnamon, cassia, lemon and angelica) and Scapegrace Gold which features tangerine in addition to the other botanicals. A true London Dry style, the gin brings a beautiful bouquet of juniper to the glass with a bracingly dry finish. $38, saratogawine.com
