Drink of the Week: Nino Franco Prosecco Rustico

This Valentine’s Day we’re crushing on Nino Franco’s NV Prosecco Rustico. Fruity aromas of green apple and fresh peaches lead to full-bodied flavors of Granny Smith apples, stone fruits and minerals that dance delicately on the palate and soften into a creamy finish of toasted almonds. Produced in northern Italy’s Veneto region, Rustico is best enjoyed in a white wine glass alongside an antipasto platter of salumi, green olives and marinated mushrooms, or with warm brie baked with apples and almonds. With so much subtlety and sophistication, this handsome bubbly could easily be a heartbreaker, but at about $14 a bottle, it’s a perfect catch.
