Drink of the Week: Deschutes Hopzeit Autumn IPA

hopzeitTaking a modern approach to a classic Oktoberfest-style ale, the Deschutes Hopzeit Autumn IPA is a boldly bitter version of a traditional Märzen. With a nod to the beer’s German heritage, Deschutes uses a traditional malt bill (Munich, Vienna and Pilsner) but mixes things up by incorporating some of the country’s newest hop varietals, including Herkules, Sterling and Hull Melon. The result is a copper-colored beer with a malty base that’s balanced by a wallop of bitter, aromatic hops. Catch this seasonal release while it’s still on shelves this fall. See deschutesbrewery.com for distribution.
