What happens when you mix the elements of a summery julep with a hoppy IPA? This Day at the Races Beer Julep!
1 oz. rye whiskey
¼ oz. fresh lime juice
½ oz. cane sugar syrup (1:1)
6-7 mint leaves
2 oz. IPA (Giger uses Bear Republic Racer 5)
Tools: muddler, shaker
Garnish: mint sprigs
Add the lime juice, cane syrup, whiskey and mint leaves to a shaker. Lightly muddle the mint. Add one ice cube and shake. Add the IPA, give it a quick swirl to chill and pour the contents into a rocks glass. Top with crushed ice. Add a few drops of Angostura bitters on top of the ice, then garnish.
