Amalfi Frappe

frappeFor this frappe, Little Rituals owner Ross Simon wanted to capture the flavors of the Amalfi Coast. “Amalfi is famous for its citrus and citrus infusions, so he used our house limoncello (a recipe from sister bar Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlor) and wanted to make it frappe style,” says bar director Aaron Defeo. “We settled on punching the drink up with a healthy dose of Strega, a little-utilized Italian liqueur with notes of saffron, mint, fennel. All those flavors love fresh lemon, and we’ve got plenty of that in there. It’s a simple but flavorful drink that keeps getting better the longer it sits.”

1½ oz. limoncello
1 oz. fresh lemon juice
¾ oz. Strega
¼ oz. cane syrup (2:1)
3 dashes lemon bitters
Tools: barspoon
Glass: rocks
Garnish: lemon zest and fennel flower (optional)

Combine the ingredients in a glass, then add shaved ice and stir briefly to incorporate. Top with more shaved ice and garnish.
