This spiked cooler from Denise Gee’s Porch Parties (Chronicle Books, 2010) is just the thing to help you beat the heat all summer. And while Gee’s recipe calls for vodka, feel free to substitute with other clear spirits like gin or white rum.
4 cups seedless watermelon, cubed into 2-inch pieces 1 cup vodka, chilled 2 Tbsp. clover honey Tools: blender Glass: jars or collins Garnish: watermelon wedge with rind
Freeze the watermelon chunks in a zip-top plastic bag until just frozen, about 1 hour. Remove from the freezer and add to a blender. Pour in the vodka and honey. Process until thoroughly blended and divide between 4 frosted jars or glasses.
Serves 4.
